Dateline Rapid City, SD. A long day again. Left O'Neill at 7 AM, and headed for our first stop, Martin SD, to drop off something a Lakota had given Sandra years ago. Left 30 min earlier than planned, made it 30 minutes faster than I'd expected, and forgot about the time change. Oops - ended up waiting there for the editor of the Lakota Times, so headed for the Badlands an hour later than expected. That ran us into a nice thunderstorm.
Rain subsided, so we got to the Badlands dry and drove around taking lots of pictures - some possible contest ones thanks to the clouds. Also saw a bighorn ewe and a couple of young rams, not fazed at all by people stopping and leaning out windows to take pictures. I took some thru the open sun roof.
Finally, it was off to Wall and one of the grandest tacky tourist traps of all - Wall Drugs. We couldn't even start to describe it, so you'll have to see for yourself - and make sure you ride the giant Jackalope!
Tomorrow it's off for the Black Hills - Mt. Rushmore, Needles Highway, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, and more. Yep, that's a full day!
365 miles, 12 hours on road. 863 total on the trip so far.
