Getting Ready
I’m leaving Friday, Sep 11, for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula – specifically the Copper Country, or Keweenaw Peninsula. I spent most of my summers up there during the 1950s, at a Portage Lake cottage owned by my grandfather. I will visit familiar places, relive old memories, and donate some items to the Houghton County Historical Society.
That’s not all! I’ll visit scenic areas, such as Effigy Mounds National Monument in NE Iowa, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Tahquamenon Falls SP, Whitefish Point shipwreck museum, the Soo Locks, and various spots along the shores of Lakes Superior & Michigan. As usual, I’ll post my routes and observations, along with pictures, daily (if time and wifi allow). Here’s a teaser picture from our 2019 trip
